Program Objectives

The Medical Assistant is a diploma bearing program that combines academic study with clinical experience. This program will provide you with learning experiences that enable you to acquire and integrate the necessary technical competencies to function effectively as a supportive health care provider in the health information management profession. Medical assistants work alongside physicians, mainly in outpatient or ambulatory care facilities, such as medical offices and clinics.

    • Study through instruction by professionals and learn by practical experience in admissions, vital signs, assessment, preparing patients and more.


    • Practical experience like guided training in Hospital work, EKG Units, Blood Banks, Medical Labs and/or more.


    • Get involved with patient correspondence, completion of insurance forms, filing of medical records, answering telephones, scheduling appointments, and arranging for hospital admission, laboratory services, billing, coding and bookkeeping.


    • Hone your skills using in Urgent Care Clinics then make your way to performing your art on Emergency Room and Doctor’s Office clients.

Additional Program Information

A grade of “Pass” in the clinical/lab portion must be earned in order to receive a diploma. In addition to in class clock hours the students are expected to do outside class study time as detailed in your syllabus. A grade-point average of not less than 2.0 or “C” must be achieved to receive a diploma. Only those courses that are part of the program are included in computing the program GPA for programs.
